This site covers the original British Beatles Albums plus analyses of the lyrics of non-album tracks.
Information on how the Beatles wrote the lyrics to the songs on the help album can be navigated from the links below.
This was the fifth of the Beatles British Parlophone albums and contained fourteen songs, twelve of which, were written by members of the Beatles; ten by the Lennon and McCartney combination and two by George Harrison. The album was released to coincide with the movie of the same name, and the first side of the LP version of the album contain tracks from the Beatles movie help! In the film the Beatles performed eight songs the song She's a woman did not make the album but instead was released as the 'B' side to their single 'I feel fine'.
Of note on this album is that Paul McCartney decided to play lead guitar on two of the Help tracks, these being 'Ticket to ride' and 'Another girl'.
The album Help! marked a turning away by the Beatles from the traditional two guitars, one bass and drums poppy sound (i bet that decca records would of been glad of that) to a more progressive sound. Especially noteworthy of this are 'you've got to hide your love away' and the classic song from the album 'Yesterday'. Paul McCartney was the only member of the Beatles who appears on yesterday. He plays an acoustic guitar with the accompaniment of a string quartet.
