The Beatles Cry baby cry was written by John Lennon. Although John had come up with the main line earlier, it was whilst in India studying with the Maharishi that he worked on the song with folk singer Donovan. Like with Lucy in the sky with diamonds he told of a fairy tale world.
One of the inspirations for the song is the children's nursery rhyme 'sing a song a sixpence' and many of the characters in the cry baby cry song come this that rhyme.
