Get back was one of the songs that the Beatles played and recorded on the apple rooftop during the recording of the film of the same name. The Get back song was written by Paul McCartney and the original lyrics had a political nature.
Get back was written about racists and their views of Pakistani and Indian people working in the UK; though Paul did not have these views he wanted to write a song that would describe the views of others; realising that he could not do this without making himself sound like a racist he changed the lyrics drastically.
The location was changed from the UK to California, and the lead character, Jojo was from Arizona.
The version of Get Back that appears on the Let it be album was recorded live on the apple rooftop. The single version is a verse longer and was recorded in the studio. Paul McCartney performs lead vocals on both versions, but it is John who thanks everybody for giving the Beatles a chance for an audition.
