The lyrics of the Beatles song Hello Goodbye were by Paul McCartney. He wrote the song as a demonstration of how he wrote songs to one of his friends Alistair Taylor. He dragged Alistair to the Piano, tinkered around with a melody he had in his head and got Alistair to shout out the opposites of what he said. He then elaborated to phrase the word. For example Hello, Goodbye became if I say say hello, then you say goodbye; Yes and No became I say yes, you say no etc.
Paul then finished the Beatles Hello Goodbye song off on his own and recorded a demo of it which he gave to Alistair a few days later. On the recording Paul is the lead singer and John and George both play lead guitar.
