Beatles Album: The Beatles AKA The White Album : Track 23
Year: 1968
Lyrics: Lennon, McCartney
Length: 4.30
The Beatles Helter Skelter song was somewhat inspired by the Who's single I can see for miles. Paul McCartney read a review of the record that said it was the dirtiest song that the band had ever recorded and wanted the same thing written about one of his songs. This resulted in Helter Skelter by far the heaviest song that the Beatles recorded.
The original Helter Skelter song was designed to be raucous and was recorded in one session that lasted for over 30 minutes. The Beatles returned to the studio whilst under the influence of drugs and knocked it down into a shorter version.
