The lyrics of the hold me tight song were written by Paul. It was originally going to be put on the first Beatles album and was recorded. For the with the Beatles album they re-recorded the song. Both John and Paul thought of the song as being very much a throw away sort of song.
The song is musically influenced by the Shirelles. This vocal group became the first all girl group to make it to the top of the charts in America . The Beatles were big fans of girl groups and recorded two of the Shirelles songs on their first album baby it’s you and Boys.
Paul takes the lead vocal on hold me tight and does it in a slightly little Richard style; George and John joining in for backing vocals and in the chorus.
