The Polythene Pam lyrics , though part of Paul's medley, were wrote by John. They refer to the groupies who used to hang about the Beatles and how they dressed and behaved.
Polythene song grabs inspiration from two main people; Pat Dawson and a girl he met in the guernsey. Pat was a groupie in their early days and was known as polythene pat because she always ate polythene bags.
The guernsey girl was into sex whilst dresses in nothing but polythene; this inspired John to dress up in polythene bags himself for a night of passion along with a couple of friends;. At the time of the incident (1960) the Beatles were first experimenting with drugs and were good friends with Royston Ellis who introduced them to Benzedrine.
