John Lennon wrote the lyrics to the Beatles I don’t want to spoil the party. Again this Beatles song gives an insight into the psych of John, with him describing the despair of the guy who has been stood up at the party. He describes how he finds it hard to act like he’s happy even with the aid of a drink or two; he is concerned that if he acts unhappy then the others at the party will be unable to have a good time as well.
John often said that the lyrics of I don’t want to spoil the party were very personal, and it is thought that it was his way of describing how he always had to act as the happy Beatles to the press, but was in reality had a very troubled mind.
In this Beatles song Paul McCartney and John Lennon harmonise on lead vocals, and Ringo gets to play the tambourine.
John Lennon: Lead vocals, Acoustic guitar.
Paul McCartney: Lead vocals, Bass guitar.
George Harrison: Lead Guitar.
Ringo Starr: Drums, Tambourine.
