Beatles Album: Let It be : Track 1
Year: 1970
Lyrics: Lennon, McCartney
Length: 3.33
The two of us lyrics were written by Paul McCartney whilst out in the woods on an escape from it all with his future wife Linda Eastman. The song describes the simple joys of escaping from everything with your loved one.
Many of the references in the two of us song, such as going nowhere, relate to their love of getting in a car and just driving with no particular place to go. Once they got lost they'd just get out of the car and hang around hidden from the world. This helped Paul evade the pressures of being a Beatle. The song is also dedicated to Paul's love of John, and for John's love of Yoko. John and Paul sing the song together as a duet.
John Lennon: Lead Vocals, Acoustic guitar
